(Note: Some Java Commands are similar or the same as some IRC Commands, but some commands just work on Java and not IRC. Click on one of the Links below for help on that subject.)
Rooms
Joining Rooms:
If you want to join a room on Java, there are two ways. Either you can type /Join #RoomName in the text bar, or you can look at the Rooms List and double click the room you want to join.
Example: /join #Bl4ckM4gic would make you join that room.
Leaving Rooms:
You can specify a certain room to leave by typing /Part #RoomName. If you are only watching one room then, just type /Part
Example: /part #Bl4ckM4gic would make you leave that room.
Being In More Than One Room:
On Java, you cannot join more than one room at a time, but you can Watch rooms. Watching rooms can be tedious, but if you need to be in a room, then it's quite useful. To Watch a room, type /Watch #RoomName. You will then be able to see everything anyone says in that room. To send a text to that room, you must type /msg #RoomName Your Message Here.
Example: /watch #Bl4ckM4gic - Would make you watch the room Bl4ckM4gic.
Example: /msg #Bl4ckM4gic Hey Everyone. - That would make you send a text to that room, the text being "Hey Everyone."
Nicknames
Changing NickNames:
To change your nickname simply type /nick New Nickname Here in the text bar.
Example: /nick Logan would change your nickname to "Logan"
Registering Nicknames:
To register a nickname all you have to do is double click your nickname
on the members list then add a password in the box and click "Register"
(Note: Always remember passwords are CaSe-SeNsItIvE)
Changing Nickname Pass:
To change your nickname pass simply double click your nickname in the
members list then click the "Change Passwd" then enter a new password in the box.
Profiles
Setting Your Profile:
All members of Chat-Valley have profiles to where you can add name, email address, or whatever you would like to add about yourself (Note: Chat-Valley reccomends that you DO NOT add personal information about yourself in your profiles.) To add information in your profile simply click the "Options" Tab at the top of the java applet then on the right you will see "Your Profile" just click that then
add the information you want.
(Note: If you add a url that contains another chat servers address we will remove it, and will consider you to be advertising that chat, which could result in a server ban.)
Setting Your Profile To Private:
To do this simply type /services set NickName Private On and that will set your profile as private and members of Chat-Valley will not be able to view your information. To turn private off simply type /services set NickName Private Off and that will set ur profile public and any member of Chat-Valley can read it.
Example: /services set Kellerz Private On - Would set Kellers profile private.
Example: /services set Kellers Private Off - Would turn private off for Kellers profile.
Colors
To have your text in color all you need to do is click the "Options" tab at the top of the applet
then click "Colors" and choose the text and or background color you would like to use.
Person to Person(p2p)
If you'd like to chat with someone one on one, thats also a simple task. Just type /Profile Nickname, or double click the person's Nickname in the Members List. (Note: You can also send an Instant Message to a Member by typing /Msg Nickname Your Message)
Notices
You can Notice a room or a member, if you are in the room where you want to notice someone
you can type your message in the text bar then click the arrow to the left of the Cmds button and choose what kind of notice you want to send "Room Moderators" and that will send your notice just to the Room Moderators,(Note: You can only send a notice to Room Moderators if you are currently in that room.) or highlight that persons Nickname and click "To Member" and that will send your notice just to that member, or if you are not in the room to which you want to send a notice to, then you simply type /Notice #RoomName Your Message (Note: if a room is mode +n (No External Messages) then you cannot notice it.)) or /Notice Nickname Your Message. The person or room will receive a Private Message from you.
Example: /notice #Bl4ckM4gic Justin suckz!! Would send the text "Justin suckz!!" to that room.
Example: /notice Logan I Love You! Would send a private notice to Logan with the text being "I Love You"
Inviting
To invite a member of Chat-Valley to a certain room just simply type /invite NickName #RoomName and that person would receive an invitation to that channel, and will be given the option to join that room or decline the invitation.(Note: You need to have Room Moderator Status to invite members)
Example: /invite Logan #Ashley's Would invite Logan to the room Ashley's.
Ignoring A User
To Ignore someone is to no longer allow yourself to see that person's text. Right click on the person's Nickname in the Members list. Then click either "Ignore Member" or "Ignore Members Domain". Then to take that person off ignore, simply right click their nickname again in the Members list and click "Stop Ignoring Member".
Checking To See Who Is On The Server
Chat-Valley Members:
You can do this a couple of ways, you can simply type /names
and that will give you a list of nicknames and which room they are in of everyone on the server, or you can type /who and that will give you the nickname, host and tell you what channel they are currently in on teh server. Or if you just want to see a list of who is in a specific room then type /names #RoomName.
Example: /names #Opers Would give you a list of nicknames that are currently in Opers.
Chat-Valley Staff:
You can do this a couple of ways, you can type /trace
and that will give you a list of Administrators and Operators that are currently connected to the server,
or you can type /admin which will just give you a list of Administrators that are currently connected to the server. (Note: To see a list of all Admins/Opers of Chat-Valley type /stats o, and that will show you all the staff members of Chat-Valley even if they are not currently connected to the server.)
Ghost Command
To use the ghost command type /services ghost Nickname here Password Here This clears a "Stuck" or "Ghost" nickname so that you can use it again.
Example: /services ghost Logan SeXy - That will d/c the nickname "Logan" so you can use it again.
Checking The Message Of The Day
To check the MOTD(Message Of The Day) simply type /motd and that will show you the message of the day.
Room Owners/Moderators/Voiced
Having Moderator Status In A Room :
Having Mod in a room allows you to temp Mod others, kick people out of the room, take other people's Mod status, voice others, take other people's voice status, ban, unban, and set topic and modes.(Note: If room mode +u is set then only room Owners can change room settings.)
Having Owner Status In A Room :
Havin Owner Status in a room means you can do everything a Moderator
can do, in addition to a few more things. As owner you can add/delete other Perm Moderators/Owners, you can set the room welcome, and if you have the room set to mode +u then only members with Owner Status can change room settings.
Adding Moderators/Owners :
To add someone to the Auto Op list simply double click the room window
and click the "Room Registration" tab then click the "Add Moderator" tab and enter a Nickname
in the box then click for them to either be "Owner, Moderator, Voiced, or Member"
Examples: If you are listed on the room members list as a Moderator then when you enter that room you will automatically be granted "Mod Status" which allows you to kick another member of that room
change the topic and modes (Note: If room mode +u is set then Moderators cant change settings, just owners can), grant temp Mod or Voice to a member, give/take quiet status on a member,
add/remove room bans. If you are on the room members list as "Owner" then you can do everything a "Moderator" can do with some additional commands, as an "Owner" you can add/delete people from the members list, set the room greeting. If you are on the members list as "Voiced" then as you enter the room you will be automatically granted "Voice Modertation" which means if the room was set to mode +m(Moderated)
then you would still be able to talk. If you are on the list as "Member" then you are able to enter the room even if the room mode is set to +j(Members Only).
Giving/Taking Temp Moderator Status:
To give someone Temp Moderator Status, right click on the person's Nickname in the Members List, and select "Give Room Moderator Status".
To take away someones Temp Moderator Status just right click on their Nickname in the Members List, and select "Take Room Moderator Status".
(Note: When member leaves that room, their Temp Moderator Status is gone.)
Giving/Taking Temp Voiced Status:
To Voice someone is to allow them to speak if the room is under Strict Moderation. To do this, right click on their Nickname in the Members List and select "Give Strict Moderation Voice"
To DeVoice someone is to take their Strict Moderation Voice. To do this, right click their Nickname in the Members List and select "Take Strict Moderation Voice".
Room Settings
Topics:
To change the topic in a room you must have Moderator Status, simply double click the room window then click "Room Options"
and then add a topic in the box next to where is says "Topic" or you can type /Topic LaLa which would
make the topic "LaLa" in that room.
Room Greeting:
To add a room Greet to your room, simply double click the room window then click
"Room Registration" then add your message in the box where it says "Room Welcome Message"
(Note: Only Owners can add room greetings.)
Kicking/Banning
Kicking:
To Kick someone is to boot them out of the room (Note: You must have "Moderator Status"). To do this, right click on their nicknamw in the members List and select "Kick Member Out Of Room". You can do this manually, and with a message by typing /kick Nickname Your Message.
Example: /kick Logan Love you! - Would kick Logan out of whatever room you typed it on with message "Love you!"
Banning:
To Ban someone from a room is to prevent them from entering (Note: You must have "Room Moderator Status.), you can set a time on how long they need to be banned for (Option pops up). You can either ban their Nickname, or their Domain. Banning someone's Domain is like banning their Hostname. You can do this by right clicking their Nickname in the members List and following the options there.
To remove a room ban , simply double click the room window then click the tab "Room Options" then highlight the ban you would like to remove in the Room Bans box, then hit "Delete".
(Note: You must have Moderator Status to do this.)
Quiet Status
To Quiet someone is to keep them from sending text to the room. (Note: You must have "Room Moderator Status") They can't talk. To do this type /mode #RoomName +q Nickname.
Example: /mode #Bl4ckM4gic +q coadman would give coadman Quiet Status in that room.
(Note: To unquiet someone simply replace the + with a - (Example: /mode #Bl4ckM4gic -q coadman) and that will unquiet that nickname from the room Bl4ckM4gic)
Regaining Control of your room
If you lose control of your room and cannot enter it because
of a ban or other setting, you can regain control of it by using the /RESET command. There
are two ways of doing this. You can by owner recognition or you can RESET
by room owner password. Type /reset #RoomName if you are listed as owner in the
room options. If your owner was taken, it is still possible to regain control of your room
if you have entered a Room Owners Password, then you would have to type
/reset #RoomName YourRoomOwnersPassHere. Resetting the room, will cause all settings
to be reset and all bans removed.
Example: /reset #Bl4ckM4gic would reset that room if your nickname is set as owner of that room.
Example: /reset #Bl4ckM4gic Rawr would reset the room using the Room Owners Password "Rawr" being the room pass.
Memos
Sending Memos:
You can send a memo to another chatter of Chat-Valley as long as your nickname is
registered along with the nickname of the chatter you are sending a memo to. You can do this
a few ways. You can right click on your nickname in the members list and select "Chat Options"
then click "Memos" then a little memo box will come up, click "New" then enter the nickname
of the person you want to send a memo to, then type you message in the box. Or you can
type /profile NickName then click "Send Memo" and enter your message in the box.
Checking Memos:
You can check your Memos by right clicking your nickname in the members
list and select "Chat Options" then click "Memos" and you will see a box that lists your new and
old memos. Highlight the one you want to check then click "Read" or just double click on the one
you would like to read.
Channel Modes
- o - moderator, /mode #chan +o nickname
- v - voice, /mode #chan +v nickname
- q - quiet, /mode #chan +q nickname
- b - ban, /mode #chan +b nickname
- t - Only ops set topic, /mode #chan +t
- n - No external messages(room cannot receive notices or msgs from ppl outside the chan), /mode #chan +n
- I - invite only(ppl can only enter if invited into room), /mode #chan +I
- m - Moderated(only ppl with mod or voice can talk), /mode #chan +m
- k - Password(password needed to get in), /mode #chan +k pass
- l - limit(only certain number of ppl can join the room), /mode #chan +l number
- p - private(cant see the room on the members list), /mode #chan +p
- s - pretty much the same as +p , /mode #chan +s
- j - members only, /mode #chan +j
- c - p2p block( you can only p2p moderators in room), /mode #chan +c
- u - Kick/Mode Block(owners cannot be kicked/Only owners can changes settings on room), /mode #chan +u
